An earthquake that hit Aranji Tehsil of District Khuzdar caused damages to houses on Friday.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo expressing grief and sorrow over the damages caused by the earthquake directed the district administration and Provincial Disaster Management Authority to start relief activities in Aranji area.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Information Bushra Rind said the Provincial Disaster Management Authority had dispatched relief items on an emergency basis to Aranji Tehsil.
On the other hand, the Balochistan chief minister briefed Balochistan National Party (Mengal) chief Akhtar Mengal on telephone about the situation in the area after the earthquake and relief activities. He said all the organisations were put on high alert and an emergency was declared in the area.
He said he would leave no stone unturned to rehabilitate and provide aid to the affectees.
On March 2, an earthquake of 5.0 magnitude was felt in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The tremors were felt in Swat, Nowshera, and Swabi districts of KP. No casualties from any of the areas had been reported.
The epicentre, as reported by the seismological cente, was Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
In February, an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude had jolted different parts of KP and Punjab.
