Putting embargoes on Iran’s drone programme would not stop it from developing, a senior Iranian legislator warned the official news agency IRNA on Friday.

“By restricting Iran’s drone power, the US is attempting to generate Iranophobia across the area,” said Mohammad Hassan Asfari, an Iranian parliament member, alluding to the recent decision by US senators to sanction Iran’s drone force.

According to Asfari, Washington is using these tactics to gain additional concessions from the Islamic republic at the Vienna negotiation table. However, he stated that Iran’s drone capabilities is “non-negotiable and unstoppable.”

Because of the competence of its military forces and drone power, the Islamic republic is seen as a regional power, he said, adding that “Iran is not a danger to the area,” and that “the Zionist government and the United States are the primary causes of instability in the region.”

Iranian drones, according to Asfari, are capable of flying vast distances, carrying weapons, recording images and movies for extended periods of time while avoiding radar detection.
