The Chester Vase was won by Changingoftheguard, and jockey Ryan Moore completed a day one treble during the May race.
The 100-30 shot won Aidan O’Brien his tenth victory in the race, and he’s currently as short as 8-1 for the Derby at Epsom next month.
Moore sent his mount to the lead right away, and the Godolphin favorite New London, who was in second, was unable to catch him.
On Above The Curve for O’Brien, the jockey also won the Cheshire Oaks, as well as the handicap with Live In The Dream.
With this win for Changingoftheguard, O’Brien has now won 10 of the last 15 Chester Vases.
Luxembourg, the current 5-2 Derby favorite, is also in the stable, looking to add to his record of eight wins in the Epsom Classic, which takes place on June 4th.
“We were really pleased with the run, and I guess you’d have to say he’d go to Epsom today,” O’Brien said.
Following the Covid-19 restrictions, Thoughts Of June held off Above The Curve to win the Cheshire Oaks in front of full-capacity spectators for the first time in three years.
Moore gave the 7-1 winner, who had been beaten twice by his challenger, a courageous ride from the front for O’Brien, whose son Joseph trainers the runner-up.
Moore won the five-furlong handicap riding Adam West’s Live In The Dream.
Hugo Palmer, who just relocated to Cheshire from Newmarket to train for former England footballer Michael Owen, won the six-furlong handicap with Ever Given, ridden by Danny Tudhope.
