Many gas stations in Kyiv have been closed due to fuel shortages in the country.
Long queues of automobiles wait outside in snaking lines at those stations that remain operational, with an average wait time of at least one hour.
A local taxi driver told, “This is not normal. I spend more time thinking about how to find fuel than I spend trying to find customers.”
“There are fewer people in Kyiv than before so fewer customers for my taxi.”
The lack of fuel is affecting local business owners who are attempting to keep their businesses solvent as well as impeding mobility.
An owner from a coffee business stated, “We need diesel for production, and gasoline for our deliveries. Both are an issue at the moment.”
“I am not sure that we will be able to make deliveries today because we’ve had to wait in this line for so long,” he added.
Adding to it, “I searched everywhere, there is no gas at any station in Kyiv, we are very lucky that we found it here.”
