According to the internet service disruption monitor NetBlocks, Russia has diverted internet traffic in the Ukrainian province of Kherson through Russian communications infrastructure.
On Saturday, the London-based organization reported a near-total internet shutdown over Kherson.
It was stated that this affected a number of Ukrainian service providers.
However, after the link was restored, several indicators revealed that traffic was passing through Russia.
“Connectivity on the network has been routed via Russia’s internet instead of Ukrainian telecoms infrastructure and is hence likely now subject to Russian internet regulations, surveillance, and censorship,” NetBlocks said on its website.
Russia claims it has taken full control of the Kherson region.
