Met Gala once attended by Princess Diana

Princess Diana has so many great fashion moments that it’s difficult to choose a favorite. But her one gown stands out, the late Princess’s dark blue satin slip dress. She wore to the famed Met Gala in 1996.

Her ensemble was so timeless that it would be appropriate today. John Galliano designed gown for her, it was part of the designer’s very first couture collection for  legendary brand.

Diana accessorized the clothing gown brilliantly, carrying a Lady Dior bag and a spectacular collection of gems from her own jewel box, including her famous pearl and sapphire choker.

The stunning garment only added to her fashion foresight; slip dresses are still popular today, demonstrating the princess was well ahead of her time.

The Met Gala is undoubtedly one of the most photographed events on the planet, with one of the most prestigious guest lists.

The Met Gala is undoubtedly one of the most photographed events on the planet, with one of the most prestigious guest lists. The ball has a different theme each year. Anna Wintour of Vogue is the gala’s chairwoman, and she decides who gets to walk the red carpet. Each year, a variety of celebrities, ranging from high-end designers to the world’s most recognizable faces in fashion, host the event.

Princess Beatrice, who made her debut at the event in 2018, wearing a stunning purple Alberta Ferretti gown and a lovely headpiece, isn’t the only British royal to have attended. The likes of Jordan’s Queen Rania and Monaco’s Charlotte Casiraghi have previously graced the restricted guest list.

And, while there have been rumors’ that the Duchess of Sussex may attend the fashion show in the future, we’ll have to wait another year to find out! We can only imagine what a Givenchy moment might be like…
