On Sunday, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs acknowledged the evacuation of residents from Mariupol’s Azovstal plant.
According to Saviano Abreu, a spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the UN is executing a “safe passage operation” for civilians from the Azovstal steel factory in Mariupol, Ukraine.
According to him, the effort began on April 29 and is coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ukraine, and Russia.
The operation arrived at the steel factory on Saturday morning, according to Abreu. He went on to say that no more information could be disclosed because it would jeopardise the safety of the refugees and the convoy
Davyd Arakhamiya, leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction and head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk had earlier announced that 100 civilians had been evacuated from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol today.
On April 30, twenty individuals were rescued from the Azovstal plant, which had been devastated by Russian shelling.
