The city council of Mariupol claims that there is a “chance” to evacuate citizens from the besieged city of Mariupol on Sunday.
It invites residents to meet at a shopping mall called “Port City” at 4 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET) to be evacuated to Zaporizhzhia’s southern section.
The council said, “If you have relatives or acquaintances in Mariupol, try to contact them by all ways. “
Either call or text and say that it is possible to go to Zaporozhzhia, where it is safe.
The officials pray that everything works well.
A “green lane” would be open for citizens desiring to reach land “held by the enemy in the Kamensky district” until 3 p.m.
Even though the city has been severely destroyed by weeks of shelling and bombing by Russian forces, about 100,000 civilians remain in Mariupol.
