The court had reserved its verdict on Friday after Qila Gujjar Singh police submitted a report saying an FIR against the incident of violence in the Punjab Assembly had already been registered and the investigation was underway.
It asked the court to dismiss the petition of Mr. Elahi as he did not even appear before the police.
Mr. Elahi through a counsel contended that the police refused to lodge a case on his application. He said the police acted at the behest of ‘Leader of Opposition’ Hamza Shehbaz.
He asked the court to order the police to register a case against the culprits involved in the attack on the speaker and other MPAs of PML-Q and PTI.

The application filed by Elahi alleged that he was a joint candidate of the PML-Q and PTI for the post of chief minister. He said Hamza orchestrated the attack on the MPAs of the government’s alliance in connivance with his private goons. He said the chief secretary, the inspector general of police and the deputy commissioner also acted at the behest of Hamza.
