In the beleaguered city of Mariupol, there are hints of a possible breakthrough in securing at least one escape route.
On its Telegram channel, Mariupol city council stated, “There is hope for the evacuation of Mariupol inhabitants to territory held by Ukraine.”
Although the council is still waiting for confirmation, the post states that the evacuation from Port City; a shopping mall, will take place today (Saturday).
“The occupants made it possible to travel between the Left Bank area and the city’s other districts on the right bank. The bridge to Mukhino is available for transportation “On Telegram, Petro Andriushchenko, a Mariupol mayor’s adviser, stated.
Within this time, it’s unknown if everyone trapped at the Azovstal steel manufacturing complex will be evacuated.
Mariupol still has 100,000 residents, or about a fourth of its pre-war population.
