On Friday, Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, called for measures to control and supervise the healthy growth of capital in China in line with the law, while also emphasising capital’s positive role as a key element of production.
Xi delivered the remarks during a group study session of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau.
According to the official Xinhua news agency, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated the country should intensify its antimonopoly efforts and avoid a chaotic expansion of capital.
Xi urged for a healthy growth of China’s capital markets on Friday, preventing financial risks and focusing on non-performing assets and bubble risks, according to Xinhua.
“Capital is a vital factor in promoting social productive forces,” Xi was reported as saying following a Politburo meeting as he presided over a study session. “It also has a profit-driven nature.”
“It will cause immense harm to economic and social growth if it is not regulated and retrained.”
