A lady has been charged with manslaughter in the murder of a 15-year-old boy who was discovered dead at her house in central Queensland about seven months ago. Stacie Dutaillis, 36, is accused of giving narcotics to Jerome Banu. According to police, Ms. Dutaillis was the sole adult in the house when Jerome and five other minors, ages 12 to 16, swallowed prescription narcotics.
On Wednesday, she was detained and charged with homicide, grievous bodily injury, careless conduct causing harm, and distributing dangerous poisons. The kid was sent to Mackay Base Hospital, where he died the next day. Five more youngsters discovered on the property were also sent to the hospital for treatment. They’ve all healed from their injuries since then.
When Jerome fell into cardiac arrest at 10.20 a.m. on September 30, paramedics were rushed to the Malcomson St residence. The situation was hectic, according to Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Ross Vickers, and the kids’ health was worsening. “There was a lot of worries involved, and the majority of the patients had high blood pressure and their hearts were beating considerably quicker than normal,” Mr. Vickers explained.
“The overall aspect and behavior of the other youngsters on the scene were one of bewilderment and horror.”
Police blood tests taken from the adolescents revealed that they had a deadly level of prescription medicine in their system at the time. Ms. Dutaillis is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
