The Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez has spoken against his own organization for failing to prevent or end the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Further on, he said that, the failure to stop the atrocities of Russia is creating a source of great disappointment, frustration and anger.
He also added that, we tried to do everything in our power to stop this war and prevent from further mass killings but have failed miserably.
The UN Security Council comprised of 15 members is specifically entrusted with promoting global peace and security.
It has also faced a lot of criticism including from the official of Ukraine Government for failing to with stand with Ukraine and implement a strong action on Russia.
Russia is the member of permanent members of the body, and has vetoed more than one resolution on the conflict.
“I’m here to share with you Mr President, and to individuals of Ukraine, we won’t surrender,” he said.
But Mr Guterres later defended his organisation, admitting that while the Security Council had been “paralysed” the UN was taking other actions.
“The UN is the 1,400 staff members in Ukraine who are working to provide assistance, food, cash [and] other forms of support,” he told the BBC.
