According to The Washington Post, Elon Musk would not be required to testify in the ongoing defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
The Twitter founder was reportedly mentioned as a prospective witness for Heard at the start of the trial, but Musk’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, announced Wednesday that his client will not testify in a Virginia courtroom.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, after meeting on the set of Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills in 2013, the tech mogul got “infatuated” with Heard.
However, after her divorce from Depp in April 2017, the Aquaman actress made it official by posting a selfie of the two on Instagram.
The pair was observed on multiple public outings throughout the course of the year, but Musk and Heard ended their relationship a year later.
On her social media, Depp’s ex-wife announced the breakup.
“Being in the public eye entails explaining oneself to a large number of people all of the time. In this instance, I’d want to be a little more quiet. Despite the fact that we are no longer together, Elon and I remain close,” she added.
According to reports, Musk’s name was brought up during Depp’s failed libel action against a newspaper in the United Kingdom, when the Pirates of the Caribbean star claimed that the Tesla inventor had an affair with his ex-wife while they were still married.
