“Servicemen of the Russian military forces deployed tear gas and stun grenades on the civilian population during a peaceful pro-Ukrainian rally on Freedom Square in the city of Kherson”; the prosecutor general’s office stated in a statement.
It further states that the incident is under investigation. Also that at least four persons are injured. The incident elicited no quick response from Russia.
The news came after local officials told that Russia has selected its own mayor in Kherson. The first major city that is under Russian rule by Moscow’s military when the invasion began in late February.
