After striking a $44 billion agreement to acquire Twitter, Elon Musk has been told that he must safeguard Twitter users from bad content.

Human rights organisations are concerned that the billionaire’s promise to loosen content regulations would lead to an increase in bullying and disinformation.
“All social media sites, whatever of ownership, must be responsible,” Boris Johnson’s spokesperson stated.
Mr Musk was also told by the European Commission that he must safeguard users.
In a tweet, Thierry Breton, the EU executive’s commissioner for the internal market, cautioned that “whether it’s vehicles or social media, every firm operating in Europe must comply with our laws – regardless of their shareholding.” When they go into effect, there will need to be more clarity about why people are being offered specific material or targeted with certain adverts, for example.
