Norway to contribute $44 million to a British-led initiative to purchase weaponry for Ukraine

Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway, said on Tuesday that the country will allocate $44 million to a British-led initiative to purchase weapons and military aid for Ukraine.

Støre said the move allowed the support to Ukraine with arms that Norway’s military did not have or could not give up.

The prime minister added that the donation of equipment to a party in war was an entirely ‘new experience.’

Previously, Bjørn Arild Gram, Minister of Defense announced that the country had donated a Mistral air defense system to Ukraine.

Norway donated a total of 4,000 anti-tank missiles and additional protective equipment, according to the ministry.
