Andy Puzder: Inflation will ‘severely’ damage 2022 midterms Dems

Andy Puzder

On Monday, Andy Puzder, the former CEO of CKE Restaurants, warned that inflation will “severely” impact Democrats in November.

In reaction to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, warning that “Mornings with Maria” in the midterm elections if they don’t assist bring down prices for families, Andy Puzder said on “Democrats are going to lose” on Monday.

On CNN, he added: “It is the responsibility of Congress, of the president, to get out there and make the changes we need to make to bring down those prices for families, and we can do that. We have the tools.” Warren said on Sunday’s “State of the Union”

“I think we’re going to be in real trouble if we don’t get up and deliver then I believe the Democrats are going to lose,” she added.

As inflation surged to a record four-decade high in March, supply chain limitations, the Russian incursion in Ukraine, and strong consumer demand fueled rapid price increases that wiped out the benefits of rising earnings for most Americans, Andy Puzder told anchor Maria Bartiromo that “Elizabeth Warren is right”

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which covers a variety of products such as fuel, health care, groceries, and rents, climbed 8.5 percent in March from the previous year, the quickest rate since December 1981, when inflation reached 8.9 percent. Prices increased by 1.2 percent from February to March, the biggest month-to-month increase since 2005.

Energy costs increased by a staggering 11 percent in March compared to the previous month, and are up 32 percent year over year. On a monthly basis, gasoline costs 48 percent more than it did last year, following a monthly increase of 18.3 percent in March as the Russian war in Ukraine spurred a sharp rise in oil prices.

Warren, on the other hand, was chastised by Andy Puzder on Monday for her efforts to lower inflation while supporting increased government spending, claiming that “she is out there advocating not only for Build Back Better,” but also “wants the president to forgive the student debt.”

President Biden may be getting closer to cancelling student debt, according to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who also said that the White House “The State of Student Debt Summit,” during a meeting hosted by The Student Debt Crisis Center called “seems more open to it than ever before.” which included remarks from Sen. Warren.

“Democrats just have really no idea what to do to lower inflation,” Andy Puzder argued in response. “Everything they do would actually increase inflation.”
