Ukrainian strike: Russian Su-33 aircraft is seen ‘dancing’ towards the ground

VIDEO video showed the moment a Russian Su-33 aircraft crashed over Kharkiv after being damaged by a successful Ukrainian air defence.

A footage shot in Kharkiv shows what looks to be a Russian Su-33 aircraft “dancing” to the ground after being damaged by Ukraine’s air defence. Ukraine continues to push back against Russia’s increasing advance in southeastern cities such as Mariupol and Odesa.

The video, uploaded on Twitter by German journalist Julian Ropcke, depicts a Russian military aircraft losing control and falling to the ground after being damaged by Ukrainian air defence in the Kharkiv region.

Mr Ropcke also posted what appear to be post-attack photos of the aircraft as it crashed into Ukrainian territory.

As a result of the effective Ukrainian defence attack, smoke and fire can be seen emanating from Russian planes.

In addition, the Russian pilot can be seen opening his parachute in an attempt to execute an emergency landing.

The footage follows reports from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the UK Ministry of Defence that appear to confirm evidence of ongoing severe fighting in the port city of Mariupol.

Mariupol is a key goal in Russia’s so-called “phase two” invasion of Ukraine since its capture would allow Russia to unite the now-Russian-controlled Donbas region with the annexed Crimea.

According to military observers, such success might lead to full control of Ukraine’s southeastern provinces and a clear separation between the country’s west and east.

Despite the intensity of the Russian bombardment, President Zelensky explicitly disputed Russia’s claims that it had conquered Mariupol and confirmed that the port city is still under Ukrainian control in his speech on Orthodox Easter day.
