Xi issued a harsh warning as West intervened in Ukraine’s fight against Putin

Following the West’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, XI JINPING issued a warning.

Putin started a special military operation’ against Ukraine on February 24, declaring that his purpose was to “demilitarise and de-Nazify Ukraine.” Since then, Moscow has stated that it has “generally accomplished” the objectives of the first phase of the invasion.

However, in the weeks after the ‘operation’ began, Russia has failed to take control of Kyiv and has lost previously held towns to Ukrainian forces.

Experts now believe that the protracted struggle between Russia and West-backed Ukraine serves as a warning to China about the possibility of a conflict.

Zhou Chenming, a researcher from the Yuan Wang military science and technology think tank in Beijing, said: “It’s very difficult for Russia to totally defeat the thousands-strong Ukrainian military, especially when Ukraine is helped by lots of weapons from Western countries, which is the key reason why Kyiv has not been defeated easily.”

“The biggest lesson for Beijing is, we shall never [decide to] wage war lightly.”

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, a foreign relations expert from China’s top-ranked Peking University echoed Mr. Chenming’s remarks.
