A LORRY hauling cider caught fire on the M5 near Bristol, creating 6 miles of traffic congestion. Just after 1 p.m., a Westons Cider truck caught fire between junctions 20 and 19 in Clevedon.
At junction 20, Ettlingen Way, the highway was closed in both directions due to a fire, and vehicles were advised to avoid the area.
More than six miles away from the location, lines had formed.
The fire is being attended by emergency workers, and no casualties have been recorded.
At 1.25 p.m., northbound traffic was halted, while southbound traffic was halted 10 minutes later.
Although the closure was reduced to one lane just after 3 p.m., drivers can expect delays of up to 49 minutes.

“A traffic restriction is presently in place on the M5 northbound between junction 20 (Clevedon) and junction 19 (Portishead) owing to a car fire,” an Avon & Somerset Police spokeswoman said. There have been no injuries recorded.
“Long delays are expected and motorists are advised to avoid the route.”
Travel site Inrix says: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to vehicle fire on M5 in both directions at J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon).”
