According to Guinness World Records, the woman who held the record for the oldest living person died at the age of 119.
Japan’s Kane Tanaka died on Tuesday, according to Guinness World Records.
Tanaka’s relatives tweeted on April 13 that she had been “hospitalized and discharged repeatedly.”
“I was able to come this far with the support of many people. I hope you will continue to have fun, [and be] cheerful and energetic,” she had said, according to a tweet from her family.
She raised five children while also assisting in the management of a family business that produced and sold sticky rice, Udon noodles, and sweets.
According to Guinness World Records, she got up at 6 a.m. every day and spent her days studying mathematics and playing Othello. Her sweet craving remained through her final days, according to her relatives, with pleas for chocolate and cola.
Guinness said it was looking into who holds the titles of oldest living human and oldest living person alive (female). “Guinness World Records sends their deepest condolences to Kane’s family,” the company said in a statement.
