Meghan MacLaren of England won the Australian Women’s Classic by a single stroke on 10 under par.
MacLaren was in the lead after the first two rounds of the competition, which was cut to 54 holes due to rain, but he made bogeys on the fourth and sixth holes.
However, she birdied three of her final five holes to win at the Bonville Golf Resort with a three-under 69.
Maja Stark of Sweden challenged and gained the lead, but a double bogey at the 13th hole cost her the victory, and she finished second.
“I knew someone had gotten to eight under, and I was on seven,” MacLaren explained. “I hit a couple of excellent birdies on 14 and 15 and assumed the lead at that time.”
“I had a feeling it was in my hands.”
“I thought I could win if I played the golf I knew I was capable of, but I tried not to get ahead of myself.”
After back-to-back wins in the 2018 and 2019 NSW Opens, MacLaren now has three Ladies’ European Tour victories in Australia.
