SMUGGLING gangs have still been using sites such as TikTok to advertise ways of unlawfully entering the UK, four months after social media giants committed to prohibiting this.
A Sunday Express investigation revealed multiple posters on TikTok advertising berths on speed boats and dinghies or in the back of lorries to cross the Channel for as little as £3,000 per person. The posts give further incentive for would-be migrants by featuring photos of renowned locations in Britain, such as Big Ben, and the London Eye. Last night, after we alerted TikTok, it permanently blocked the accounts.
A TikTok representative said: “Nothing is more essential than the safety of our community and this content has no place on TikTok.”
“It comes as the debate continues over Government plans to deport unlawful migrants to Rwanda while their asylum claims are processed.
