While Pope Francis and others have called for a cease-fire to honour Orthodox Easter, Russia has maintained its attacks.

President Zelensky promises that Ukraine will win the war in a bold Easter greeting. Ukraine says efforts to help residents flee the destroyed port city of Mariupol have crumbled once more.

According to a Ukrainian commander, Russia is continuing to dump bombs on the steelworks where the city’s final defenders are holed up. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected in Kyiv on Sunday, according to Zelensky.

The visit, which Zelensky claims will involve US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, has yet to be confirmed by the White House.
