Tom and Julie Malone, hosts of Channel 4’s Gogglebox, were stopped by security at Manchester Airport on their way to a weekend away – however it seems an item raised some questions.

Tom and Julie Malone, stars of Gogglebox, were astonished to be detained by airport security for interrogation while on their way to Dublin for a weekend trip.

The confrontation occurred at Manchester Airport on Friday, April 22nd, over an item that was stowed in Tom’s bag.

He used Instagram to inform his followers about the unexpected reason for the couple’s delay on their way to Dublin.

Despite being bald, Tom was interrogated about having curling tongs in his suitcase. “Guess who got [questioned] at Manchester Airport because he had curling tongs in his bag?” he joked.

“They weren’t mine!” Tom continued, hysterically deadpan. ‘Are these your curling tongs, Christ almighty?’ they ask. and I had to answer, ‘yeah,’ cause I apparently packed my own suitcase.”

Julie, his partner, could be heard giggling in the background, and she was eager to re-enter the festive atmosphere. “What is it we’re  looking for now?” Julie said. Is this a departure gate? As the couple boarded the plane, she signed off the video with, “See you soon, Dublin!”

Fans of the pair reacted positively to the video and wished them safe travels in the comments.

One wrote: “Delighted to hear you are visiting my city . Have a ball . Hope I bump into you both tomorrow. Planning to visit the city centre …… Love your hair ….” Another wrote: “You might have a wig packed away that requires the curling tongs Tom to go incognito whilst away.”

Since joining Gogglebox in 2014, the Malone family has starred on the show, which includes Julie, Tom, and their sons Tom junior and Shaun.

The Manchester-based family is well-known among viewers for always having a nice array of goodies in front of them, mainly biscuits or cakes.

Tom junior no longer appears on the Channel 4 show with his family, having left in February 2021 to pursue other chances.
