According to official figures, Covid infections decreased by more than 30,000 in Scotland last week.
In the week ending 16 April, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported that 281,400 people tested positive for the virus.
This was down from 314,800 the previous week and equated to about one in every 19 people in the country (down from one in 17).
The fourth consecutive week has seen a decline in Covid infections in Scotland.
The estimate of one in 19 in the latest ONS Coronavirus Infection Survey compares to a record high of one in 11 for the week ending 20 March.
The virus is estimated to have infected 3.8 million people in the UK, down from 4.4 million the previous week.
In England, one in every 17 people tested positive, while one in every 15 people tested positive in Wales and one in every 30 people tested positive in Northern Ireland.
According to separate ONS figures, 2.7 million people in Scotland are likely to have been infected with coronavirus during the pandemic’s first six months.
This figure represents 51.5 percent of the population and covers the weeks beginning 22 September 2020 and ending 11 February 2019.
The ONS data only includes individuals living in private households and excludes those residing in hospitals, care homes, and other communal establishments.
