Balkans faced a 5.7-magnitude quake late Friday in southern Bosnia.
In the USGS report, the shallow quake struck at 21:07 GMT, 14 km northeast of Ljubinje.
No substantial damage was reported. According to AFP sources, the tremor was felt in Belgrade, Zagreb, and Skopje, about 400 km away. The USGS reported it in Albania and southern Italy as well.
“Aftershocks are likely in the next hours and days,” the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.
In a statement, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre stated that “follow-up tremors are expected to occur in the next hours and days.”
The Balkans is prone to seismic activity and earthquakes are frequent.
