Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine’s president, has criticized statements made by a Russian general, who stated that Moscow desires control of southern Ukraine because it would provide access to the breakaway area of Transnistria in Moldova.
According to Zelensky, the comment demonstrates Russia’s desire to conquer other nations and that the war on Ukraine is simply the beginning.
“Well, this proves what I have warned several times: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was merely a prelude to capturing other nations,” Zelensky stated in his nightly presentation.
“Of course, we will defend ourselves for as long as required to thwart the Russian Federation’s ambitions. However, all nations who believe, as we do, in the triumph of life over death must fight with us. They must assist us, as we are the pioneers on this route. And who will be the next?” If somebody who may become the next wants to remain neutral today to avoid losing anything, this is the most dangerous wager. Because you will lose everything.”
Moldova summoned Russia’s ambassador following Maj Gen Rustam Minnekayev’s remarks.
