WizzAir transports disabled nan to wrong country, costing her £700

She was left stranded and out of money when she learned that she had been flown to the wrong nation as she went to pass through passport check. In order to be there for her grandson’s wedding in Ljubljana, 89-year-old Joan Winter flew from Luton Airport.

However, she and her daughter Hayley Vickery, 58, managed to get on the wrong flight after being directed to a Wizz Air plane by a member of the airline’s employees, despite their best efforts.

It wasn’t until the couple landed and got at passport control that they realised what had happened, according to the Mirror. They immediately informed border force officials of the error.

Joan and Hayley had landed in Pozna, Poland, some 680 kilometres away from Ljubljana.

The remainder of the bridal party realised Joan and Hayley weren’t in their seats midway through the flight.

Hayley spent hundreds of pounds in the next 24 hours to get to Slovenia in time for her son’s wedding. “My mum was a wretched person. She had forgotten to bring her prescription with her and had been without it from Saturday to Tuesday.”

When the rest of the group arrived in Slovenia, they were informed that sending a message to Hayley and Joan would be hard due to the fact that it was uncertain where they had ended up.

They were told to book a hotel in Poland or travel back to Luton after finally getting through to Wizz Air’s premium rate phone line. If they had flown back to Luton, they would have missed the wedding.

The stressed-out couple made the decision to spend the night in Pozna before taking a £270 taxi to Warsaw the next morning.

A last-minute ticket to Ljubljana, Slovenia, cost them a stunning £700, which they were unable to afford.
