Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, has cautioned that legislation similar to Florida’s recent parental rights measure might have disastrous implications.
“This notion – we’ve been extremely fortunate in America, and we’ve lived in a bubble in some ways for a long time,” Weingarten said. “This is a piece of propaganda. This is incorrect information. It is in this manner that wars begin. Hatred begins in this manner.”
The American Federation of Teachers, the country’s largest teachers’ union, has been a loud critic of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and GOP education legislation, accusing the GOP of overstepping its bounds and imposing unfair restrictions on educators.
