County Championship: Afridi dismisses Marnus Labuschagne to get first championship wicket

Shaheen Shah Afridi of Pakistan picked up where he left off in the Test series against Australia at home when he dismissed Marnus Labuschagne once more, this time in England while playing for Middlesex against Glamorgan in the County Championship.

Afridi got a delivery to rise uncomfortably from a short of good length location, which Labuschagne attempted to fend off with a casual leave. The batter was played-on for eight runs after the pace of delivery found the back end of Marnus’ willow.

Shaheen’s first wicket in County cricket was shared on Twitter by Middlsex’s official account.

This wasn’t the first time Labuschagne had been defeated by the left-arm pacer.

Shaheen dismissed Australian batsman at least once in each of the three Tests during Australia’s recent visit to Pakistan, proving to be a nemesis on sub-continent wickets.

Labuschagne’s wicket sparked a minor collapse, with Middlesex trailing by 30 runs for the loss of five wickets at one point. Toby Roland-Jones, a pace bowler, also took two wickets.

Shaheen also dismissed Sam Northeast for a duck on the opening ball, depriving the pacer of a chance to complete a hat-trick.

Kiran Carlson, on the other hand, survived a big appeal down the leg-side to deny Shaheen a fantastic start in County cricket.
