Hina praises Ilhan Omar for raising voice against atrocities in held-Kashmir, Palestine

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has appreciated the strong voice that US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar raised against Indian atrocities in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and for the people of Palestine.

Talking to Ilhan Omar, who called on her in Islamabad, Hina Rabbani called for constructive engagement of the international community to avert the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

She underscored the need to deepen engagement to promote peace, and stability in Afghanistan.

The minister of state stressed the need to keep the interests of the most vulnerable segments of society into consideration.

Khar underscored that Pakistan and the United States had a longstanding and broad-based relationship.

On this occasion, Ilhan Omar thanked the minister for the hospitality extended to the delegation during their visit.

Acknowledging the importance of Pakistan-US bilateral relations, she agreed that historically, both Pakistan and the United States had benefited whenever the two countries worked together and promised to further cement those ties.

Earlier, talking to the US congresswoman, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif underscored that Pakistan valued its long-standing relationship with the United States and wanted to further deepen bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, and equality.

He highlighted that constructive engagement between the two countries could help promote peace, security and development in the region.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including Pakistan-US bilateral relations as well as regional situation were discussed.

Maintaining that the US was Pakistan’s largest trading partner, the prime minister emphasised the need to further enhance cooperation between the two countries, especially in the trade and investment fields.

He lauded the efforts of Pakistani Diaspora in reinforcing the Pakistan-US ties and added that Pakistan deeply valued their contribution to national development and growth.

The prime minister highlighted the serious human rights situation in IIOJK and stressed the importance of peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, enabling the region to realize its economic potential and promote social progress.

He emphasised that a peaceful and stable South Asian region can focus on its growth and development.
