As fighting escalates across the east of the country, Russian forces attempt to advance toward the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, says the city’s Regional Council on Wednesday.

The council stated, “The situation at the frontline suggests that the enemy is trying to advance in direction of Zaporizhzhia, but suffers losses and focuses its main efforts on maintaining the occupied frontiers.”

Russian forces are striking Ukrainian troops, and they are conducting offensive operations toward Pokrovske – Huliaipole.

Zaporizhzhia Is set to form a part of evacuation corridor, as per negotiations with Russia.

The corridor is said evacuate women, children, and the elderly.

According to the council, Russian forces have established a base in Melitopol city.

Since, they occupy the southern part of the region, they are now able to induce the offensive there.
