Elden Ring feels like a never-ending game. Even if you’ve defeated the final boss, you’re unlikely to have seen the conclusion to questlines for characters like Varre, Sellen, and Millicent. Completing those questlines becomes even more difficult as patches add more content to the game.
The most recent Elden Ring patch updates the game to version 1.04. The 1.04 update was recently released, bringing with it a slew of balance changes and bug fixes. But don’t worry, our Magic Swordsman build guide’s Moonveil Katana is still very powerful.
The full patch notes for Elden Ring update 1.04 are available below, which includes a new encounter with everyone’s favourite, Patches the Untethered.
Patch notes for Elden Ring update 1.04
The patch notes provided below are taken from Bandai Namco’s official website. Scroll down for more information and highlights that we believe are important.
New functions
- An option to turn the camera’s auto rotate function ON/OFF has been added.
- Some event phases for the NPC “Patches” have been added.
Patches’ new encounter is very interesting, and it will hopefully add some context to Tanith’s story in the future. See our guide to Patches’ entire questline, including today’s patch addition, for more information.
Changes to the gameplay balance
- Increased the attack speed of Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons while decreasing their recovery time. The jump attack is not included.
- Increased Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons’ two-handed attack damage. The jump attack is not included.
- Colossal Sword, Colossal Weapons, Great Sword, Great Hammer, Great Axe, Great Spear, and Halberd weapon classes now have a higher physical block rate and a guard boost.
- Grafted Blade Greatsword’s damage has been increased.
- Increased Devourer’s Scepter’s damage.
- Reduced the scaling of status effect build-up from Albinauric Staff and Dragon Communion Seal spells and incantations.
- Reduced the effectiveness of Greatshield Talisman on weapons with a high block rate.
- Reduced the duration of the madness-afflicted animation.
- Reduced the rate of recovery from madness buildup.
- Slightly faster FP and stamina growth at lower levels.
Huge buffs for the Colossal weapon category have arrived, making them more powerful and increasing the amount of damage they can block when used to guard, making Guard Counters even more viable. The Grafted Blade Greatsword is being highlighted here because it is a very popular weapon, and this will draw even more players to it. The faster FP and stamina growth rate is beneficial for players starting new saves, but in order for this to take effect in a new save, you must level up once.
