Hamza Shehbaz to file petition in LHC against delay in oath administration

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz to file a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) for swearing-in as the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab.

As per details, Chief Secretary and Governor Punjab have been made parties in the petition filed by Hamza Shehbaz.

In the petition, the court was requested to order that he be administered his oath as CM without any further delay.

The PM’s son being frustrated with the delay in his oath-taking requested the court that former CM Usman Bazdar’s resignation was being accepted on April 1 and the Chief Minister’s office has been vacant since then.

The petition also takes the position that a constitutional crisis was being created which is against parliamentary democracy and the spirit of the constitution.

It is pertinent to mention here, Punjab Assembly (PA) on Saturday elected Hamza Shehbaz as the new CM. Hamza Shehbaz took 197 votes to become the 21st CM of Punjab, the most populous province of Pakistan.
