Officials said the bag containing 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal’s corpse was discovered on the side of the road mere blocks from her Queens home on Saturday.
Law enforcement officials informed NBC New York that a mother of two found dead in a duffel bag abandoned on the side of a Queens, New York, road over Easter weekend had been stabbed 58 times in the neck, torso, arm, and hand.
The New York City Police Department said it received a complaint about a suspicious bag with blood on it at the junction of Metropolitan Avenue and Jackie Robinson Parkway in Forest Hills soon after 8 a.m. Saturday.
Orsolya Gaal, 51, was found “unconscious and unresponsive” inside, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the site by emergency personnel.
According to police, a trail of blood led them to her Juno Street house, which is approximately a half-mile away.
As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made, and no suspects had been identified, according to the NYPD. The inquiry is still underway.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City will determine the cause of death.
Detectives questioned residents at the residence, including a 13-year-old, law enforcement sources said Saturday.
According to NBC New York, the woman’s husband was out of town when her body was discovered and was on his way back to New York after learning of her death.
