New testimony have surfaced in Ukraine’s northeastern province of Sumy, pointing to suspected war crimes. A journalist from the Independent spoke to Ukrainians who had spent days in subterranean cells used as torture chambers by the Russian troops. One of the torture chambers, which was only a few metres wide, is still splattered with blood. The torture chambers are in the town of Trostyanets, which is close to Russia’s border.
Residents of the 20,000-person town claim that the torture room is merely one of numerous examples of abuse, assault, and murder under investigation. They said that during Russia’s takeover of the town, men went missing on a regular basis.
President Zelensky asked the international community to “prepare” for the worst by stocking up on anti-radiation medication and erecting air raid shelters on Saturday. He remarked in an interview with national media: “We should not wait until Russia decides to use nuclear weapons to intervene… That is something for which we must prepare.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Vladimir Putin is prepared to use nuclear weapons in the next phase of his war. President Zelensky also advised the international community to “prepare” for the worst by stocking up on anti-radiation medication and constructing air raid shelters. “We shouldn’t wait for the moment when Russia decides to deploy nuclear weapons… We must prepare for that,” he stated in an interview with national media. The great-granddaughter of former Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev expressed concern that the Russian tyrant would turn to nuclear weapons.
According to Nina Krushcheva, a US professor of international affairs, Putin is likely to go to any length to guarantee victory in Ukraine. She stated, ” “I believe Putin truly intends to win this war, and he intends to win it at any costs. If he has to proclaim victory, he may need to deploy tactical nuclear weapons – which I don’t think he will – and that is one of the alternatives the Russians may be willing to employ.”
