Rocket strikes in Kharkiv

More civilians were killed in rocket and artillery assaults in the Kharkiv and Luhansk areas of Ukraine on Sunday, according to Ukrainian officials.

Five people were killed and 13 were injured amid resumed rocket assaults against Kharkiv, according to Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs.

On his Telegram account, Gerashchenko wrote: “Between 13.30 and 14.00, the city centre was bombarded. Multiple rocket launchers were used by the occupiers to fire towards the city. Buildings used for residential and administrative purposes were harmed. There are flames in several parts of the city centre.”

Serhii Haidai, the chief of the military administration in the nearby Luhansk region, claimed a small number of civilians had been evacuated from the cities of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk. “Today, it was difficult to agree on a truce along the evacuation routes with the occupants,” he stated.

According to Haidai, the town of Zolote was attacked in the same location. Two persons were killed in the incident.

“Except for the residential dwellings, there’s nothing around here,” he explained. “The Russians targeted people on purpose.”

Bread vans were targeted in Lysychansk, according to Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova. In the same location, the town of Novodruzhsk had also been shelled. She stated that one house had been demolished.

Denisova said that 16 residential structures in the Luhansk region had been demolished in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday noon.
