Russian President Vladimir Putin feels he is winning the fight, according to Austria’s chancellor.
Chancellor Karl Nehammer of Austria told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he couldn’t fully explain Putin’s reasoning. But that the Russian leader had his “own war logic”. Adding that Putin “sent me clear messages about his concerns” and appeared to have a complete understanding of what was going on on the ground.
“I believe he has entered his own battle logic”. He believes that the conflict is required to ensure the Russian Federation’s security. He has little faith in the international community. In the Donbas area, he accuses the Ukrainians of genocide. So, he’s back in his world now, but I believe he’s aware of what’s going on in Ukraine,” Nehammer added.
Putin turned to German during their face-to-face conversation, according to Nehammer, to warn that the war should end sooner rather than later.
