Shot and beheaded dogs found in Texas

Two collared and microchipped canines were discovered shot to death in Texas, with one of the dogs apparently beheaded.

Adrienne Madison of Montgomery County, Texas told KRIV-TV that her dog Murphy and her neighbor’s dog Diva were found shot to death on a railroad track after escaping through a breach in her property’s fence. Murphy, whom Madison acquired from a pet shelter, was discovered at the scene beheaded.

“Both dogs had been shot and murdered, as had Murphy, my dog,” Madison explained. “We have no idea why someone would do such a thing, especially with collars on. They were still operating when they were discovered.”

Along with wearing collars that indicated their owners’ locations, Madison stated that both dogs were microchipped.

The canines did not appear to have been shot on the train lines, but rather thrown there after being shot.

“The police informed us that similar occurrences had occurred not far from that region and with a similar tone previously,” Madison recalled. “To my mind, someone who would perpetrate such heinous acts against an innocent animal presumably has little regard for human life as well.”

The Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constables Office’s animal cruelty squad is investigating the case.
