BRITAIN has had enough of eco-extremists and wants authorities to clamp down on their activities.
According to an exclusive poll conducted for the Sunday Express, 53% of respondents favor stricter laws against climate change thugs who block roads, cause property damage, and disturb companies and members of the public.
It follows weeks of disruption caused by protestors, who brought roads and cities to a halt. An offshoot of Extinction Rebellion Six members of Just Stop Oil were arrested yesterday (SAT) after jumping onto an oil ship in downtown London.
The protests over the last few weeks, which included the blockade of refineries, have made it even more difficult for motorists to fill up their cars, exacerbating the cost of living crisis.
A majority of Techne’s 1535 respondents favored stricter measures against the zealots.
Conservative voters were the most likely to support tighter laws, with 71% asking for a crackdown. Labour voters were evenly divided on the subject, with 42% voting yes and 42% voting no.
Even within the Green Party, where 61% opposed tighter laws, nearly one in three (30%) believed a harsher crackdown was necessary.
Older groups faced greater hostility. 52% of 35-44-year-olds desired stricter laws, while 63% of 45-54-year-olds agreed.
According to our poll, 41% of 18 to 34-year-olds supported tougher laws, while 40% opposed them.
Only 26% of the respondents were opposed to stronger measures.
