Russia bans Boris Johnson for Ukraine conflict

Russia has barred England Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other senior ministers from visiting the country because of the United Kingdom’s “hostile” approach toward the conflict in the Ukrainian Republic.

In addition to Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, 10 other high-ranking officials, most of them Cabinet members, have also been prohibited.

Decision taken by Moscow, they said, because of sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom since Russia invaded Ukraine.

US Vice President Joe Biden was subject to a similar travel restriction from Russia in March.

For its part, the Russian foreign ministry blamed London’s “unbridled” media and political campaign “aimed at isolating Russia globally, creating circumstances for restricting our country, and suffocating our internal economy.”

As a result, “the British leadership is actively exacerbating the situation around Ukraine, supplying the Kyiv government with lethal weaponry and coordinating similar efforts on the part of NATO,” it stated.

Britain’s government vowed to maintain “resolute” in its support for Ukraine despite Russia’s “reprehensible” activities in the nation.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also reacted to the penalties, calling President Putin “a war criminal” and pledging that she would not “shy away from criticizing him and his dictatorship.” she said

The United Kingdom and the United States slapped further sanctions on Russia earlier this week.

Ruling elites and those who have profited from Putin’s government have all been targeted by the sanctions, which included a slew of financial penalties.

Although they have ruled out sending troops or enforcing a no-fly zone, NATO nations like the United Kingdom and the United States are also providing guns, ammunition, and other military equipment to Ukraine.

As part of an $800 million (£612 million) aid package, the United States said Wednesday that it will be sending more advanced offensive weapons to Ukraine.

When Washington refused to halt shipping weapons to Ukraine, Moscow issued a dire warning on Friday.
