According to reports, British SAS forces have been teaching Ukrainian troops in Kyiv on how to operate NLAW anti-tank missile launchers.
This is the first time British personnel have trained Ukrainian equivalents since Vladimir Putin invaded on February 24.
On two instances in the previous fortnight, two officers from separate battalions said British Special Forces had taught their forces.
As the possibility of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine rose, Britain’s military trainers were removed from Ukraine in February.
Russian TV has warned that Western involvement in the war – such as giving weapons to Ukraine and training its soldiers – indicated World War Three had begun.
The publication said it spoke to two Ukrainian officers, Captain Yuriy Myronenko and Skiff, a Kyiv Special Forces commander.
Myronenko claimed British SAS taught his battalion’s new and returning troops to use NLAWs two weeks ago in Obolon, a northern Kyiv suburb that saw severe action early in the invasion.
Kyiv requested additional NLAWs after reports that they were particularly effective against Russian armour.
A contemporary, light-weight response against Russia’s massive numbers of slow-moving – and frequently antiquated – tanks.
Last week, British forces also trained Ukraine’s 112th battalion, Skiff told The Times.
His senior commander, dubbed “Bear,” verified Skiff’s claim. ‘The Brits were decent men,’ he said. ‘They asked us to visit after the war’.
Because of the large number of new recruits joining the resistance struggle since the war began, many were not educated on how to utilize the crucial missile launchers before Britain withdrew its forces.
It took roughly five minutes to learn to operate the NLAWs without the help of British experts, he claimed.
