Extinction Rebellion Activists closed down four bridges in London

Protesters have shut down four of London’s major bridges. Extinction Rebellion activists gathered in large number on Waterloo, Blackfriars and Westminster bridges to demand a stop to new fossil fuel expenditures.

The protesters have caused traffic jams. The Metropolitan Police stated police were seeking to suppress “pockets of dissent.”

Demonstrators were chanting “End fossil fuels immediately” and carrying signs that said “Love in action”.

Protesters earlier this week blocked doors to Lloyd’s of London.

“We are aware of a number of demonstrations today,” the Met said on Twitter.

Protests are generating delays and disruptions across downtown London”

Officers are on the spot managing the effect.”
