Russia vows to intensify its strikes on Kyiv in the Ukraine war

Moscow has stated that it will strike Kyiv with more missiles in response to any Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory.

The ministry stated that the “number and scale” of attacks will increase if its own settlements become targets.

Russia issued the warning as it announced a missile strike on a military factory near Kyiv in retaliation for a Ukrainian helicopter raid on a Russian town.

Ukraine denies responsibility for the strike.

“Tonight, sea-based high precision long-range “Kalibr” missiles hit a military facility in the outskirts of Kyiv,” Russian defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

Mr. Konashenkov claimed that the hit targeted Ukraine’s Vizar military plant, which manufactured and repaired anti-aircraft and anti-ship missile systems, warning that Russia would escalate missile assaults on Kyiv if Ukraine maintained what he described as attacks on Russian ground.

He said: “The number and scale of missile strikes against objects in Kyiv will increase in response to the commission of any attacks of a terrorist nature or sabotage on Russian territory by the Kyiv nationalist regime.”

Andrei Sizov, 47, the owner of a nearby wood workshop, told the AFP news agency that the blasts occurred overnight.

“Around 1:30 am, my security guard called me because there was an airstrike,” he said.

“There were five hits. My employee was in the office and got thrown off his feet by the blast.”

Additionally, he stated that he felt Russia was retaliating for the sinking of the Moskva vessel, which Ukraine believes was attacked with Neptune missiles.

Russian authorities accused Ukraine on Thursday of flying two helicopters into Russia’s Bryansk region, attacking a residential building in the village of Klimovo, and injuring eight people.

Kyiv has denied the attack and accused Russia of faking it in order to incite “anti-Ukrainian hysteria.”
