US President Joe Biden’s handshake after a speech has left the internet scratching its head. On Thursday, he gave a 40-minute speech at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, and there was no one on stage next to him.

After finishing his speech, the 79-year-old Democrat leader turned right, his hand held out in a handshake posture. But no one on stage could reply to the US President’s gesture.

Nobody from the cheering audience approached the President to say hello.

Biden also seemed disoriented on stage and oddly turned away from the audience at the end.

In his speech, President Biden speech the supply chain crisis and urged Congress to fund semiconductor development. But Biden also claimed to be a “full professor” at the University of Pennsylvania, despite never having taught a class there.

The awkward handshake and his claim to be a professor prompted a flood of social media comments and Republican opponents questioning Biden’s cognitive ability.

“Where are the White House and Biden family handlers whose job it is to make him look good?” Former California Republican Party vice chairwoman Harmeet K Dhillon remarked on Twitter.

She said, “This is truly bizarre unless they WANT him to look like a dementia patient,”

The Republican congressional candidate from Tennessee, Robby Starbuck, remarked: “Oh man. The music makes it 10x worse. This man is unfit to be President. Period.”

“No one believes you even the imaginary person whose hand you tried to shake,” a Twitter user commented.
