Jack Newton died due to health difficulties

Golf hero Jack Newton died overnight due to health issues, leaving Australia in sadness. He was 72 years old.
In 2007, Newton, one of Australia’s most successful golfers, received an Order of Australia for services to golf. Newton’s golf career was cut short at the age of 33 when he was involved in a plane propeller accident.
Following his recovery from the accident, he dedicated his time and efforts to the Jack Newton Foundation, which focuses on the development of junior golfers. He was named to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2016.

“It is with great sadness that I announce, on behalf of our family, that our heroic and loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and mate, Jack Newton OAM, passed away tonight due to health issues,” the statement said.
“Dad was a brave competitor and iconic Australian who blazed a formidable trail during his professional golfing career from 1971 to 1983 before sadly ending his career at the age of 33 due to an accident involving an aviation propeller.”

“He opted to selflessly put his time, energy, and effort into giving back to the community through his Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, sports commentary, golf course design, and generating major amounts for various charities, most notably diabetes, as only he could.
“Our father, cherished husband, proud brother, adoring grandfather, and maverick comrade’s passion for sport and contribution to future generations of golfers and the Australian community exemplifies the character of our father, beloved husband, proud brother, adoring grandfather, and maverick mate. His wife Jackie, daughter Kristie, son Clint, and grandchildren Matilda, Hope, Jessie, Noah, Paige, and Indie will carry on his heritage.
