The Queen was represented by Prince Charles during the Maundy Service, a traditional coin-giving event.

It is the first time in 52 years that the Queen, who has been suffering from mobility issues, has missed the service. Maundy coins are distributed to 96 ladies and 96 men at the event, one for each year the Queen has been alive. The Queen is not scheduled to attend the Royal Family’s Easter Sunday church service this year, according to Buckingham Palace. The Queen attended Prince Philip’s Thanksgiving Service at Westminster Abbey last month, she cancelled other recent activities, including the annual Commonwealth Service. While the Duchess of Cornwall joined Prince Charles at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel for the Maundy Service on Thursday.
