Biden is still unsure about sending us officials to Ukraine
President of US, Joe Biden, states on Thursday that he has still not decided whether a US official should be sent to Ukraine or not.
During his conversation with reporters while he was boarding Air force One, prepared to go North Carolina, reporters asked Mr Biden about his support to Ukraine and if , for the said support, he is ready to release a high level emissary while Ukraine’s armed forces continuously fight back against Russian invasion.
In the words of Biden, he replied: “We haven’t made that decision yet,”
He also clued that the said decision as being discussed currently between him and advisors.
While he just replied “Yeah” in answer to whether he himself is ready to go.
Amidst the calls of Mr. Joe Biden or a high ranked official planning to visit Kyiv, it seems Mr.Biden is close to deciding positively after news came up about the meeting of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Ukrainian Mr. zelensky last week.
The last meeting of Ukrainian and US President came about in last August when Mr. Zelensky visited white house which the former President Trump denied him to, when he was in power. After that, there has been no known meeting between the two. Needless to say, the Ukrainian President has not left Ukraine amidst Russian invasion and Ukraine’s fight back to prevent the invasion, successful to good extent.
Even though other leaders such as of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia —basically all members of Nato— went to Kyiv by train to meet with Mr Zelensky on Wednesday and that too, in person, the US president Joe Biden still has only virtually conversed with Ukraine’s President.
After recent Virtual meeting between the two on Wednesday, Biden announced to give authority of a new $800m defence help package to aid Ukrainian defence forces by assisting with “new capabilities” which include artillery systems, helicopters and rounds, armoured personnel carriers.
